We believe fine jewelry should be easier to understand. The Karat Standard is our framework for presenting the specifications that matter — on our own inventory and on every listing in the network.
- Purity
- Stated karat, and verified purity once a piece is inspected.
- Weight
- Actual gram weight rather than a category or nominal figure.
- Construction
- Solid, semi-solid or hollow — the single largest driver of real value.
- Dimensions
- Width in millimetres and length in inches.
- Condition
- Described plainly, including wear and prior repair.
- Origin
- Country of manufacture where it is known.
- Seller
- Who you are buying from, and who fulfils the order.
- Verification Status
- Whether this specific physical piece has been inspected by us.
- Exchange Eligibility
- Whether the piece can participate in The Exchange under current terms.
The Karat Standard is The Karat Club's own presentation and review framework. It is not an independent industry certification and does not imply third-party accreditation.
Three separate facts
Approved seller. Inspected piece. Eligible for exchange.
These are independent. A listing from an approved business is not the same as an inspected piece, and an inspected piece is not automatically eligible for The Exchange.
Verified Partner
The seller business has been reviewed and approved to participate in the marketplace. It does not mean every item has been individually inspected.
Karat Verified
This specific physical piece has been received and inspected by The Karat Club — weight, purity, dimensions, construction and condition.
Exchange Eligible
The piece may participate in The Exchange under current program terms. Eligibility is a product attribute, not a promise of value.
Exchange treatment
Club purchases and outside jewelry are treated differently.
Jewelry bought through The Karat Club, a Verified Partner or The Reserve enters with an ownership record already in place. Jewelry bought elsewhere may apply, and is reviewed piece by piece.
A Club Record is the ownership and specification record The Karat Club keeps for an eligible piece. It is a normal database record — not a token, coin or blockchain entry.
Exchange terms, fees and premium treatment are configurable and may change. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of eligibility, acceptance or value.
